I’m knitting.
I’m knitting for numerous reasons I think. Everybody keeps asking me what I’m knitting and I’m not sure. It changes daily. But that’s not what is important. What’s important is that I’m knitting.
And knitting, it’s a good thing.
Granted perhaps my knitting isn’t so good yet, but it’s good that I’m knitting.
I’m knitting.
Knitting is so much more than connecting stitches. It’s a connection to mothers and grandmothers. (Well, not my grandmothers who really weren’t into such things.)It’s a connection to the sheep and alpacas and cotton plants that give us the yarn. It’s a connection to the people we give our creations too. Here’s what my friend Pat, who is facing some serious health problems, had to say about the prayer shawl I knitted for her:
It reminds me of you
It protects me
It hides me
It comforts me
It holds me
It goes with me and you are there too
Thanks for being with me.
If that’s not a reason to knit, I don’t know what is.
Our church had a knitting ministry for a while — they would knit caps for babies which were distributed through our local crisis pregancy center and other charities. They also knitted some caps for our local guard troops in Iraq — which are, from what I understand, quite appreciated.
at least you are on cross-stitching. that is way not cool
